Alright, alright!!

cos-mo-post-al-an [koz-muh-postal-en]: adjective/noun
1. a person
who belongs to all the world; not limited to just one part of the world; can make their home anywhere in the world.
2. a person who believes fully that postage stamps and mail connect the world, regardless of where, from or to, they go.
3. the joyful experience of knowing you're a local because your mail made it to its destination
.

The postage stamp is truly wonderful. It can travel the world, experience the lives of a million different people, go through the doors of strangers; and never once lose sight of where it's headed.
Welcome to the land of cosmopostalan : travel, mail and words. It's a crazy little place in my corner of the woods; wherever that may be!

Outgoing

What a gorgeous day of mail...

(**please note: this post was edited because I currently am having some trouble with uploading pics. I will re-edit it, and put up pics, once the situation changes. Until then--**)

On Friday, I went to check my post office box and was welcomed by three beautiful pieces of mail from across the globe. One from New Zealand, one from Australia, and one from within the United States. Each piece was absolutely gorgeous, and made me smile with the amount of effort and consideraton put into each piece.

And so, I thought it only fitting to get right on replying, especially considering yesterday marked the day to hand in my major paper (all 14 pages of it) and I now stand with hours to do whatever I want.
I made a bit an "Air"mail pun with one reply, and then brought in some black/white/photography joy with another.
And the rest of my outgoing was adorned with joy!
Also last weekend, I found a 2011 Cirque de Soleil calendar left "to the weather", completely never-been-used and in perfect nick. Conveniently, the paper of which it is made from is heavy duty cardstock, and makes WONDERFUL envelopes. So, I've decided to make a collection of envelopes which I now adorn with the name:

CIRQUE
I'm looking forward to using those guys!

I also had a little inspiration today, to create a new form of letter. But I will save that for a later post, once I create the prototype and other little doodads!

For now -- may today be a GOOD MAIL DAY!

Send some more mail,

Art.

in it's finest form; making things fit together; finding coincidences that, ironically, were never too improbable to begin with;

a fine form of beauty;

art is joy.
art is mail.
mail is art.
mail is joy.

Go send some mail.

A good mail day indeed.

I have spent this weekend receiving and sending mail...

...and it has been wonderful!

Once I figure out how to upload the pics, they'll be up.

But until then...

...go send some mail.

Art of Mail!

Made some mailart just now.

A boating piece -- with Callum the Crocodile gently adoring the dock:

"Did you just call me cheesehead?" -- a piece for the ever-resilient ChEEsEhEad:

Not sure who this piece is to yet, but it's based on a boat theme -- so probably one of my boat-enjoying buddies:

Stinkin' flash!! Big bald spot on the envelope! Haha!

To the lovely El. who doesn't send enough mail (:D):

To my cousin and his beautifully pregnant wife:

These pieces will be in use within the next week!

And, once again; if you're out there reading this -- let me know. I'd love to hear from you!

Little Goodies: Good In A Big Way

I've got to admit: jovial surprises are really nice.
So, coming home yesterday to a nice surprise made me rather jovial indeed.

For a while now, I've been looking for new stationary, as a way to differ from the traditional white-lined letter paper I usually use. Obviously, such new stationary would only be used in special occasions, and sparingly as to maximise usage as much as possible. However, the new stationary that I received yesterday will be rather hard to use "sparingly" because it's just so bloody gorgeous.

My favourite, hands-down, is the Par Avion stationary:

With Stripes Galore coming in second:

And Ginkgo Leaves a close third:

But, the pinnacle of all remains the absolutely adorable travel case that accompanied the stationary; a little beauty that will be indispensible for my travels this summer.

It will be the perfect container for all of my writing and mailart equipment, as well as for my address, various envelopes, and writing paper -- and, now, new stationary.
I can't wait to use them all!!

What a good mail day indeed, even if there was no mail at all!

To a wonderful day,

Outgoings!

My outgoings today were rather small. This is because I have not received any mail this week except for one letter from the lovely El. in Australia (which was adorned with a $2.35 Diamond Jubilee stamp -- look at what I'm missing out on!!), and -- hence -- when one lacks in incoming, there is only so much mail that can go out.

I sent a letter to my Grandma today, just a simple piece to inform her of my going-ons and some things that reminded me of her in my travels. My Grandma used to send me aerogrammes, back when they were still being used. (If anyone knows of a blog/person that makes/has/sells aerogrammes, I'd love to know!!)
Because she's an awesome grandmother, I made sure to let her know:

Those are real, handcancelled French postage stamps I previously mentioned.
And the current "Cherry Blossom Centennial" postage stamps -- love them! It was a pity to have to break the pair for this envelope!
I thought it was mighty awesome how the hands and the word "Grandma" met in this photo!

Today I also sent a piece to my cousin, Tz, in Australia:

...and that's it!! Rather wimpy, aye?

I'm in need of some more penpals, I guess!! (If interested -- let me know!)

On a side note, I finished my major paper. It's due on Friday and I can't wait to hand it in!!

Did you send some mail today? Make someone's day?
I sure hope so.

Worthy.

A friend of mine invited a young boy do a talk at a local library tomorrow as a part of one of her major projects.
Unfortunately, I am not able to attend the event.
So, instead, I decided to write the boy a letter.

This friend of mine is doing a project to assist the good works of the Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation for Childhood Cancer. And the young boy doing the talk is none other than an eleven year old pediatric cancer survivor.
My friends' biggest worry is that the young boy will turn up and have no one there to give his talk to.
So--a letter is necessary.
For things that can't be conveyed in person, a letter is nothing less than perfect. A letter can hold your innate feelings in such a permanent way that you'll never be able to let go of them.

With any luck, upon receiving this letter, the young boy will understand that I am very sorry that I am not able to support him in person.

Even though we've never met.

The letter is simple. A one-page piece explaining my situation, encouraging him for his future, and thanking him for sharing his story with the world.

Here's hoping he'll enjoy the accompanying illustrations!

I like to call this one "Mustachio"...

Kind of looks like a crustacean!

A little bit of thoughtfulness can go a long way.

I hope that is the case tomorrow.

Spreading kindness--
